Helenización y deshelenización del cristianismo: Aproximación al pensamiento de Joseph Ratzinger

Que la herencia grecolatina ha sido la base del mundo occidental es un dato tan evidente como obvio. Por eso, el fenómeno denominado como deshelenización –entendido como un largo proceso de abandono de la herencia griega (y también latina)– tiene una significación tan importante para la pervivencia de Occidente. En la presente investigación se busca profundizar en la visión de Joseph Ratzinger/Benedicto XVI sobre este fenómeno. El interés en ahondar en el diagnóstico particular del papa emérito al respecto parte del reconocimiento de la trascendencia que tuvo su discurso en la Universidad de Ratisbona en 2006, en el cual Benedicto XVI desarrolló algunas líneas generales sobre el tema. El objetivo de esta investigación es profundizar en sus escritos anteriores y posteriores sobre tan delicado asunto.

Abstract

That the Greek and Latin heritage is the foundation of the western world  is a fact that seems unquestionnable. In this respect, the phenomenon known as Dehellenisation (that should be understood as being the long process that consists in the abandonment of the Greek heritage [but also its Latin counterpart]) is of paramount importance for the survival of the West. The present article seeks to examine Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI’s vision of this phenomenon. The pertinence of the analysis of the personal theses exposed by the retired Pope resides in the impact of the lecture that he gave in the University of Ratisbona in 2006, in which Benedict XVI developed the general ideas of his theme. The aim of this study is also to examine his earlier and later writings on this delicate subject.
