Los incipit de De amicitia y De breuitae uitae: del texto al contexto

The way in which classical texts are written usually resembles a multiform mosaic or an intricate monument. In this paper, in the context of the learning of Latin language and culture, we will make a ‘critical-comparative reading’ of the ‘incipit’ of two Latin Classical works: De amicitia, Cicero (44 BC) and De breuitate uitae, Seneca (49 AD). We will follow the didactic purpose of corroborating whether the peculiarity of the Latin used by each author through his own style and ideological imprint may correlate with the way in which the corresponding context of the time of production is inscribed in each of the texts. As methodology of analysis we will consider the recognition and study of: a) The distinctive design of each text, made by the particular use of syntax and the rhetorical figures practiced by each author. b) The inscription of context in the text, from the intersection of two main dimensions: the socio political and the subjective-autobiographical. When necessary, we will refer both to Spanish and Italian translations of the works analyzed.
