· Resilience in the Classroom: Comprehensive Strategies for the Prevention and Management of Teacher Stress
Keywords:
Teacher stress, Occupational mental health, Educational public policiesAbstract
- Teacher occupational stress constitutes a critical public health issue that deteriorates both educators' well-being and the quality of the educational system. This article analyzes the evolution of the concept of stress from its biomedical origins to contemporary interactive models, classifying its multidimensional symptomatology into physiological, cognitive, and behavioral factors. Faced with this scenario, a comprehensive intervention model based on co-responsibility is proposed, transcending the traditional focus on isolated individual self-care. At the micro-level, the study details techniques for physiological self-regulation and strategic time management to strengthen teachers' coping mechanisms. At the macro-level, it substantiates the urgency of reconfiguring institutional culture through transformational leadership, adapting school infrastructure under ergonomic principles, and designing state public policies that guarantee funding for epidemiological surveillance of mental health and the social revaluation of the teaching profession. In conclusion, mitigating teacher distress does not depend on isolated individual adaptations, but on a systemic reform where both the State and educational institutions assume mental health as a fundamental pillar for social development and the academic success of new generations.
