Resumen

The learning process has changed over time with the application of new teaching methods, techniques and strategies that
combine to help students achieve their goals. Being competent in a foreign language is more than having a great language instructor who provides information and assignments related to specific skills, it means that students’ motivation and attitudes play an important role in the learning process. According to Gardner (1985, p. 136) language teaching focuses on the student’s perception in relation to the context in which it is taught. In this way, students’ motivation and attitudes are, to some extent, responsible for success or failure in language learning. Therefore, this article expounds on the motivation and attitudes in foreign language learning.
