Abstract

Digital graphic media are an important source of information for geographical studies on crime, especially in urban spaces. This case study takes as its object of analysis the robberies in the city of Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña, Chaco, Argentina, between 2019 and 2021.

The objectives of this work were, on the one hand, to differentiate the types of robberies, on the other, to determine the neighborhoods with the highest occurrence of this type of crime and, finally, to identify the so-called “hot zones” of concentration of this type of criminal acts; using digital graphic portals as a source of information.

Methodologically, journalistic information referring to theft and attempts was compiled. The data was transferred to a spreadsheet where variables and indicators were detailed (classification, type, description, neighborhood, address and time of occurrence of the crimes), subsequently processed, tabulated, graphed and mapped to obtain the final results.
